Tao Group Revives Avenue

The bygone New York nightlife fixture returns with a sleek reinterpretation of Art Deco atop Hudson Yards
Tao Group Hospitality Avenue Sky Lounge Journey New York

New York clubgoers mourned the loss of Avenue, the decade-old West Chelsea hotspot that shuttered during the pandemic. Now, Tao Group Hospitality has revived the beloved brand as Avenue Sky Lounge, part of the culinary and nightlife powerhouse’s transformation of the 6,000-square-foot dining and events destination one level above Edge NYC at Hudson Yards, the Western Hemisphere’s highest observation deck.

This time around, Avenue has been reimagined as an Art Deco-inspired cocktail lounge courtesy of Susan Nugraha, Tao Group Hospitality’s SVP of design and development, and local- and London-based design agency Journey. Here, on the 101st floor, architectural arches and geometric forms are complemented by suede, lacquered woods, and upholstered ceiling and wall panels that elicit a warm, timeless aura. A modular layout allows the space to accommodate a variety of gatherings.

Avenue Sky Lounge sits alongside Peak with Priceless, a restaurant that reinforces the Art Deco narrative. Strikingly positioned at the summit of the 1,296-foot-tall tower, the revamped dining room pairs velvet drapery with bespoke banquettes and a blue-gray palette that reflects the Manhattan skyline amplified through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. These mighty views are reveled in from every vantage point.

As a summer bonus, Tao Group Hospitality has brought its high-energy Marquee Skydeck back to Edge NYC for a second season, inviting guests to revel in DJ sets and rove between seven permanent multisensory installations throughout.
