The Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort, has added the New American brasserie the Merchant Room to its F&B lineup in Naples, Florida. Located off the sunny lobby, the Merchant Room ushers guests into an elegant homage to Old World Florida crafted by Champalimaud Design to embody coastal sophistication. “We went for a nostalgic vibe in the restaurant, taking inspiration from a 1940s palm court and adding whimsy,” says Champalimaud principal Matoula Karagiannis. “We wanted guests to feel transported to another time and place. Somewhere romantic and atmospheric, a retreat of Old World charm looking out to sea.”
Lined with French parquet floors and coffered ceilings, the restaurant is commanded by an immersive handpainted mural by artist Dean Barger richly depicting local flora and fauna, including flamingos in a misty mangrove. The lush botanicals of the setting further inform touches like vintage-inspired bamboo and rattan seating is wrapped in natural linen upholstery at the scalloped oak bar. Wrought iron and wood-topped tables anchor the dining room beside cognac leather seating detailed with green piping, while hand-woven wicker birdcage chandeliers and intimate table lamps illuminate the space. An alfresco terrace overlooks the resort’s cascading pool and the Gulf of Mexico as well.
